Emerald Hills Events is owned by Travis and Abby Ewing. The couple designed the venue together. The journey began with co-founding the Heritage 1865 hunting lodge, hosting hunters from around the globe. After years of experience, their passion for the hospitality industry bloomed into what Emerald Hills is today. Emerald Hills’ commitment to an effortless process, warm professionalism, and simplistic design make it one of Iowa’s most desired weddings.
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR CONSULATION PROCESS?
"Our consultation process is simple. Our couples can find us on one of our social media platforms or on our website by a quick google search where they will find a link to a tab labeled Schedule a Tour. From there, they can see our availability for the month to come and do a quick 30 min to an hour long tour of our gorgeous property. After that, if they choose to book with us, we generally meet again with the brides 6 months out to discuss details, and a month out for a final walkthrough of our space. If couples want to meet more & see the space at any time after they have booked, it's as simple as reaching out to us for availability."

"I believe Emerald Hills Events Venue is set apart from other venues due to its location, property, lodging, and all of the inclusions. Emerald Hills Events is an all-season, flexible, full-service venue. We specialize in weddings and enjoy hosting business events, showers, and family gatherings. Located just south of Des Moines and a stone's throw from Rathbun Lake State Wildlife Area. Emerald Hills overlooks the rolling hills of Southern Iowa. The wildflowers, wooded pathways, and meadows are a romantic backdrop for our skillfully designed venue space. Every detail has been carefully thought out to make your wedding seamless. It blends farmhouse charm, modern elegance, and Southern Iowa class.
Our property has an outdoor ceremony location where guests overlook a pond behind as you get married, as well as lodging onsite for couples & guests to rent out during their time at EH."
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FEATURE?
"My favorite feature of the venue would have to be its simplistic modern design with fantastic lighting ALL throughout the space. We offer windows all around, even in the Bridal Suite and Grooms Lounge areas."
"We love it when our couples bring their creativity and uniqueness into play at our venue. Whether it is bohemian, fairytale, modern vintage, minimalistic, industrial, and so on - we are happy to create the wedding of your dreams!"
